I have been a paddler all my life. I fell in love with kayaking at an early age when my father would take me out in the ocean on our trips to the beach. Being out on the water and seeing all the wildlife made a huge impact on me and helped create life-long memories I still have today. As I grew up and was able to make trips myself, I began exploring rivers around central Texas. This is where I really started to get into kayaking. I have found myself in a variety of different kayaks over the years and have just recently had my first experience in a Hobie pedal-drive kayak.
2018 was a heck of a year for KATS! With over 250 anglers and 7 events around Texas, the 25 anglers who qualified for the Classic Championship were excited to battle it out.
We had a great 2017 KATS season, with over 350 total anglers and a record breaking 166 anglers at our first event, we were looking forward to a competitive championship. For this years KATS Classic Championship we return to our two day format, with the top 25 anglers competing for two consecutive days, that were individually scored to give us our champion.

BBC News recently ran an article reporting how a study global fishing catch is significantly under-reported according to a study conducted by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization. According to findings, “the amount of fish taken from the world’s oceans over the last 60 years has been underestimated by more than 50%”.
